StarTech specs say this is a USB 3.1 Type-C enclosure 36.5 MB/s or I called StarTech customer service at 1-800 and a friendly representative said it's most likely related to my SSD problem. So, without disassembling the phone yet, I removed my SSD and installed it in a Unitek USB-C enclosure and the speed was measured at 520MB/412MB. This was on a 2017 15" MacBook Pro. I will say the case is super durable, dust and water resistant, and has a nice protective rubber bumper. There's even a cover with a rubber grommet that snaps into place to keep debris out of the USB C connector away.I sent back the StarTech case for Revain.
