I love the look of these hangers but they didn't fit my mantelpiece. It was my fault. (and my chimneys) I have a receding chimney. Flat, then becomes decorative towards the bottom. The lower part of the hanger does not allow attachment. I gave them to a friend with a squarer fireplace and they look and work great! Not sure about the carrying capacity as they only take empty stockings at the moment.
