Very easy to clean with a light spray of alcohol, on a cool surface dirt will not stick to the ceramic plate. It heats up very quickly but keeps the desired temperature; The dial is very sensitive, a light touch greatly increases the heat, which is great for giving a heat boost and then going back to a lower temperature to keep something warm but not overheated. I gave this product 5 stars by weight because it is lighter than expected and easy to use. I didn't smell any smoke or burning when I first turned it on as the instructions say it can happen. I have used this product several times and am very happy with the purchase, I think it's a good deal for the price. It is durable and absolutely silent. The soft red light turning on and off is a good reminder that the device is still powered on. If you're cooking or doing other chores in the kitchen nearby, you can see it in your peripheral vision when it's active. I like the fact that it's easy to keep clean like it's just been taken out of the box. I'm just waiting for it to cool completely to wipe it off. I also wipe it down before use to make sure there aren't any wet or dirty spots on the ceramic surface before plugging it in.
