Caused my phone to overheat and not charge well

Charging for five minutes caused my phone to get so hot it burned my fingers. The battery was not enough, the whole body of the phone was hot. I had to constantly move the phone in the holder to get a charge. I put the phone down, confirmed it was charging and left. After five minutes the phone stopped charging and I had to rock it back and forth to find a charge again. Happened repeatedly. Removing my thin case didn't affect the connection. The item has been returned.
