Before trying any of these, we washed them in the dishwasher to see if they could handle the heat. We put it upside down on the top shelf and the bottle came out fine. With 8 ounces, we can store enough items in it without leaving large bottles behind. We currently use them for various vegetable oils. To mark them, a permanent marker might be the best way. Of course, we won't know whether that works until the next time we experience the dishwasher.
