Inexpensive effective protection against overflow and flooding of the condensate pan
Last summer I had to repair the ceiling and wall due to a clogged condensate pan. To prevent this from happening again, I installed a condensate pan float switch. The switch is well made and very easy to assemble. It attaches to the pan and acts as a switch on the red (Rc) or yellow (supercharger) wire of the thermostat. Installation takes less than 10 minutes - you will need a nut (wire nut) for 18 gauge wire. At the same time I installed a Rectoseal SG1 condensate tray overflow detector. The SG1 alarm sounds when the switch is open.
