I only bought this radio to go hiking in bad weather. I read many reviews on the different radios that Revain sell before deciding on this one. I only received it this week, so I can't vouch for durability yet. But set up was a lot easier than some reviews suggest. Due to the detailed explanation of the SAME codes in the user manual, the programming was a bit confusing at first. You really don't need to know all that. Just ignore all the explanations, follow the prompts to put the radio into programming mode and simply enter the six digit number found on the NOAA website for your region. I turned it on this morning while waiting for a NOAA test to make sure it was programmed correctly. I turned the volume down to "3" and when the test alarm went off the audio was still loud enough. Overall this seems like a great radio for the price. Another minor complaint - I would like the power adapter to plug into the bracket rather than directly into the radio. I worry about how well the connection will hold up over time as I unplug and plug it back in when taking it camping and home.
