I had a small transport scale that served me well except for larger items. What I really like about this scale is that the display is separate from the scale so you can still get an accurate weight reading for larger items! However, this caused some confusion: the scale comes with batteries and a separate charger so you can choose what you want to use. I prefer batteries and opened the battery compartment on the back of the display to add them. There were no metal wire spools, meaning the batteries didn't work. I contacted customer service who was very apologetic and immediately sent a replacement scale. It was great but when I received it again the same problem. I came to the conclusion that this compartment shouldn't work at all: the batteries should be in the compartment in the scale itself. The problem is solved and the scale works very well. Giving 4 stars for the confusion (why add a battery case when it shouldn't do anything) and the scale itself is plastic, not metal like my others. However, the customer service is excellent and very responsive and the scale has worked very well so far.
