Review on Rubbermaid FGR80DC Refrigerator Freezer Cooler Fridge Thermometer - Large Mechanical Dial for Accurate Monitoring and Control by Raquel Peterson

Bought on a whim during an offer. Works well and durable; Large dial is easy to read. After receiving it and putting it in the fridge, I kind of wondered why I bought it in the first place. When my wife asked "why did you buy that?" I didn't have a really good answer. Fast forward a month later. I went to the fridge to get some water before bed. On the thermometer I noticed that the needle had risen from its usual position in the middle of the red SAFE zone. That was my first clue that something was wrong, so I started troubleshooting. Of course, my defrost control board was burned, causing the fan to freeze and cutting off cold air from the freezer to the fridge). I put the food in a couple of ice boxes or in the freezer (which was still filling up). Of course we had gone shopping in the morning and the fridge was full for the memorial service; Daily cooking. Thanks to this thermometer I saved about 95% of the food. If I hadn't seen the arrow move just a tiny bit towards the top of the SAFE red zone, I'm sure I would have woken up with more corruption and a mess to clean up.
