I've been free tech quilting for quite a while and it never seems to get better. I ended up buying some cords to try and I'm amazed at how easy they are to use. I was worried it would be too difficult to use on a large quilt to keep them in place, but I just quilted an 80" x 80" quilt with this ruler and am very happy with the results. I added some of those round silicone pens you can buy to keep the rulers from sliding on the fabric and recommend this. I used this ruler in the sash area and a different brand of ruler in the quilt blocks. Don't be afraid to try them out. BUT make sure you have the right rulers and presser foot for your machine. I have a high shank machine so I bought long rulers that were 1/4 inch thick. Short shank machines use different rulers.
