I bought a brass picture lamp. This is the most beautiful perfect brass. Not too bright yellow and not too boring. The light color is more of a bright white, a cool tone (NOT daylight) than a soft white (warmer tone). I would have preferred it to be a softer white, but that doesn't hurt since we won't be turning it on often. What matters to me is how it looks. I bought it wired because I don't want to see the plug BUT I still want it "plugged in" as we don't want to pay $$$ for an electrician to make a new switch. So we bought a Lowes "combo jack" for $10 to accomplish this. Add an electrical code to the picture light and route it in the wall directly to the combination switch outlet. My husband plugged it into a combination switch so I could turn the light on and off from that outlet. That works great. Give it a try if like me you 1. don't want to see an outlet, 2. still need a switch, 3. save some money by not hiring an electrician. Much luck!
