The wood is very solid and the stool is sturdy for a 200lb. grown-up. Putting it together was not extremely difficult, but it could have been easier. Nevertheless I got it put together and it works like a charm. I bought this stool to help me get into my bed which sits high off the floor. It is almost the same color as my bed and works perfectly for what I bought it for.My little dog even uses it to get up in the bed when he is cold.
