Bought because my dentist taught me how to floss forever. I try but every time I use mass produced polyester floss it cuts my gums. My molars are close together so I have to put the floss between my teeth. Even if I tried sawing to make it go down less abruptly, I'd still have bloody gums. I'm aware of the need to clean the areas between my teeth that the brush can't reach and I use mouthwash regularly, but it doesn't remove the physical material. I was looking for a replacement for bamboo toothbrushes (much more sustainable than the junk plastic handles that will still be in use five hundred years from now) and came across this product. I like glass and metal containers which means I use less plastic associated with fossil fuels. I also like that this material never cuts my gums. I now floss every day and no longer flinch or twitch in front of the floss. Bamboo thread has a pleasant mint aroma, which makes work more pleasant. If you don't floss for the same reasons, or even if you use junk polyester in a landfill, plastic boxes are a great substitute and I love that I can buy replacement floss for my little glass jar.
