The screws provided will fit cases 12mm to 13mm thick. I install them on the trunk of an old steamboat. It's probably only 3mm thick so I'll need to find MUCH shorter screws before proceeding. I ended up using M4 x 10mm which was barely long enough to use one of the washers that came with the handles on each screw, 12mm would probably be the optimal size. Anyway, one of them on each end of this locker-sized trunk, plus some pulleys on one end, and now I can ROCK the heavy telescope that's in this locker. I don't want lateral force (lifting the barrel with a grip on each end), but they do an excellent job of not pinching your fingers.
