Don't take off the ring!
They're a bit fiddly to put on, but once you get the hang of them, they really are great value for your ass, uh, idiot. You start at the rim with the plastic ring under the seat, then thread the rim without the ring through the hole and pull it around the rims. Should sit nice and neat. It took me a few tries and a lot of looking at the pictures to get it right, but once you get that "ah-ha!" moment, it's easy. I recommend NOT removing the ring as when properly fitted it will hold the cover snugly against the inner hole of the seat without it dangling a bit around the center.
