Review on 🎀 Customized Windscreen Foam Cover for Rode PodMic - Effective Pop Filter to Minimize Plosives and Wind Noise during Podcasting by Jignesh Shaffer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

If you're willing to sacrifice aesthetics, it's worth it

Pros: - Tight fit - Eliminates plosive noise when speaking directly into the mic at close range - This actually helps you use the proximity effect to compensate for weak PodMic bass without worrying about plosive noise. Cons: - This thing is big, not thin - makes an aesthetically pleasing mic look like a black cotton swab - I had to toss it in the dryer to get rid of all the wrinkles and creases. Conclusion: The Rode PodMic is one of the most beautiful microphones on the market. with one drawback - a bad internal pop filter. Since the mic is in the camera's field of view most of the time I'm working, the windshield pretty much covers a third of my face (that's how big it is, the seller's photos are a bit misleading). I might as well use a little cheap pop filter. The problem with the pop filters mentioned is that I was constantly tinkering with them to get them in the right position. This is where the windshield has an advantage. It's on the mic and that's it. On the other hand, this cheap windscreen improves the sound quality of this microphone at the expense of aesthetics.

Pros
  • Perfect Filter - porous foam on the microphone shield makes it more transparent to attenuate high-frequency pop noise. Blocks explosives, cotton, breath and wind noise.
Cons
  • Issues
