I wear a brace with no straps. However, I would recommend NOT wearing it next to your skin as it has 6 plastic legs with rough bumps on each. The retainers help keep the belt in place without discomfort on t-shirt-thick clothing. Lately I'm having a hard time standing for more than 5 minutes without having to sit for a minute or two, making shopping, housework and walking difficult. Yard etc. is time consuming. With this orthosis I can go anywhere and do almost anything. I also bought a rollator with a reclining seat and handbrake so now I don't have to use those electric shopping carts you sit on. The brace allows me to walk longer and the walker allows me to sit for a minute or two. Now I've found my life again.
