I bought this machine to replace a grinding blade that was starting to fail. After doing some research, based on the price and reviews of the unrepaired model, I settled on the refurbished model. I will update as time permits. Some points to note: This is NOT a cone mill. It is direct driven disc burr or flat burr. This is not an expensive coffee grinder with conical grinders and gears. There are big differences between the two in terms of price and performance. Deal with it. The mill also has no classifier. There will be fines. This is life. Deal with it. By the way, here is a chemical engineer - I know industrial downsizing pretty well. I definitely expect a reasonably smooth grind with about 5-10% grain content - the finer the grind, the higher the grit - it depends on the time between plates. First entry 04/13/2016: First of all, what a difference when grinding! Wow. Much more even grind and I could feel the difference. Softer, less bitter. Details: The device is quite large. He won't hide in the closet (at least not here in my house). So I had to find countertop space (6 x 9 x 11 inches or so). I ground a full cup of coffee on a medium grind setting (5 clicks). The coffee grinder isn't silent, but hey, it's time to wake up. !It is not so noisy. In addition, the grist was carefully placed in a plastic container. After completion, I took out the jar, knocked several times to settle, removed the lid of the jar and poured it into the filter. There was a little bit of fine dust left on the plastic due to static electricity (but not by much - I'd say less than 5% but I didn't analyze it. It was WAY fewer little things than a grinder with non-oversized blades). / unground pieces of coffee!). I put the cover on and put it back into the device. A clear "click” can be heard upon contact with the safety switch of the container. After that I checked the sanding plates. The residue is small, easy to clean. Removing leftovers will be a once-weekly routine. So as far as it goes, a great grinder for the money (one day so far). Much better than any knife sharpener I've ever tried. used May 15 update - still great! Used for everyday cup grinding. Update 09/24/2016: 6-10 cups are ground daily. Great mill! Update July 8, 2017: Keep ticking. 6-10 cups a day. It also grinds very well!
