I thought I wanted to add some cooling capacity to make my computer quieter because as I was stressing the CPU and both GPUs my ML140 got into an annoyingly noisy range while remaining cool. I built an outdoor unit with an additional D5 pump and 3 x 240mm radiators. I have 9 of these fans. (Push/Pull where I had space and just pull the other 3). I run them from a Poweradjust 3 Ultra Aquacomputer which controls fan speed based on liquid temperature. I set them in the range of 35% / 4.2V / 750RPM to 80% / 9.7V / 1462RPM. I have a boost setting on start so IDK when they start below 5V unaided but they seem to run fine at this speed and have been running for a couple of months now. You can buy 5x of these for the price of a single ML Pro fan and they are more enjoyable to listen to. The ML 120 and 140mm have a huge rev range and are very quiet at low speeds, but anything over 50% starts to annoy me loudly. The P12s are tolerable even at maximum revs, but I don't need to run them that fast. I heard the hype surrounding these arctic fans and thought they were just "good for the money" or "good if you're on a budget". Turns out they're just having a good time. They could charge double and I still think it's a lot. I have a ton of different fans and the Noctua NF-A12x25 is the only one I think is worth paying the hefty premium for.
