This is technically a 5 inch pad. Technically, this is also a 6-inch pad. It has a 5.5 inch diameter Velcro (Velcro) strap, allowing you to install 6 inch pads. I prefer to install a 6" pad on this mount and a 7" pad. on a 6" mounting surface. For me, installing a slightly larger stand offers more margin for error and cooling. This mounting pad is well constructed and for the price I would buy them two at a time. Use common sense with the built in cooling holes. I would rely on them no more than the actual surface temperature of the polishing pad.This mounting plate attaches well (5/16"-24) and holds up as well as many others I've worked with. The mounting bolt was actually perpendicular to the block.
