Cheap but effective

Large brush; The handle is big and the knot is big. I have big hands so it fits me. Some people complain that the bristles are too hard and smell bad. This is fairly typical of boar brushes. There are some things you can do to improve this situation. While this will likely shorten the life of my brush, I heated some water in a saucepan on the stove to about 165 degrees Fahrenheit. I just dipped the bristles (not the handle) in hot water for a few seconds and then let the brush cool. I repeated this process a few times. This will kill most germs that may be left on the brush, soften the bristles and get rid of most of the odor. I then washed the stubble a few times in warm water with scented shampoo. By then, most of the bad smell should be gone. For the first few brushings, you can use a heavily scented shaving cream like Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood to mask any lingering odors. degrees Fahrenheit) for 5-10 minutes to soften the bristles before lathering. Whether you're using a bar of soap or a mild cream, this brush lathers up quickly and richly. When you're done shaving, rinse your brush thoroughly, towel dry, and let it air dry. While I hang mine upside down to dry for at least 24 hours, some argue that it doesn't matter if you hang them up or stand them upright; Just don't put it in a closed closet until it's completely dry.
