I have purchased and returned several digital protractors because they all had play in the joint, were inaccurate and the readings were not repeatable. It had no joint play, the readings were reproducible and accurate. The locking handle is metal and small. It regulates the tension of the joint and is not designed to lock the joint. But if you pull it on a little tighter, it will hold with careful handling. The battery holder is not easy to use, but it is very reliable. The battery is inserted upside down. The rulers are magnetic which means they are rust resistant but not rust resistant. I will keep these.
