Not perfect but very helpful on our trip
We have 3 small dogs that like to be in the front of the car. We bought this barrier for a long car ride to keep at our backs. The rental car was a Toyota Rav 4 and this barrier was almost too small but we managed. I have to say it's more durable than I expected. The materials are not cheap or flimsy. There was room at the top and either side and if my dogs were more stubborn they could slip past. Also, a large dog could likely overpower or bypass him if he were determined. However, it worked for us on our 55 hour trip in 2 weeks, so it was worth the money.
