Review on Sony MDR AS210 Sport Headphones Black by John Jones

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Uncomfortable out of the box, better DIY

My previous two headphones were Sony MDR-J10 and I was about to buy another pair when the last one ran out but saw they were discontinued. I liked their style, with hooks that allow the headphones to hang in your ears and speakers that clip to your ear but don't necessarily fit inside. The MDR-AS210/B follows the same style, except the hooks reconnect to the headset at the bottom. Also, the AS210/B hooks aren't made out of the hard plastic of the J10, but out of a soft, rubber-like material. I personally don't like this new style. The closed loop makes it difficult to put on the headphones. I have to put my ear through the hook, which means it's not easy to put on and take off during the workday. Then the hook shape. A small protrusion between the tip of the hook and the bottom is pressing against the back of my ear and causing pain. Although that sounds negative, I still give them three stars because I was able to solve the problem by severing the ear. hook with scissors. I simply notched the rubber plastic at the bottom of the hook, then again somewhere between the middle bulge and the tip, and had no more problems. Well that's a good headphone. I shouldn't have done that, hence the 3 stars. Also, the cord to the plug is a bit shorter than I would like.
