A friend recommended a cable management kit similar to this one and gave it high marks, so when I saw this product I decided to give it a try.My home office seems as if it’s in a constant state of flux, with various computer components coming and going all the time. My basic system is a 12.9” iPad Pro, which connects to a 32” hi-definition external monitor. Add to that all the requisite HDMI, power and charging cables, and before you know you’re running off two power strips with cables strewn all over the place. I needed to organize things, and I’m happy to say that this cable kit, while basic, has helped me solve this problem. I’ll briefly break down what I believe are the strengths and weaknesses of this kit:STRENGTHS:- This system was easy for me to assemble and took less than one hour to set up There are two ways to attach the included cages to your desk - either by using wood screws or the adhesive strip attached to each piece. If you plan on using screws, the wood will need about .90” depth in order keep the screws from going all the way through the desk and popping out on top. I chose to use the adhesive strips, using clamps to hold them in place for about an hour before I put my power strips and additional cords/cables in the basket.- The basic no-frills design serves a purpose. The basket design gives you plenty of options in terms of weaving cables through them. I found this to be really helpful.- The kit also includes 2-3 kinds of cable routing guides which I attached on the inside legs of the desk so I could neatly guide the cables to where they needed to be.- In my opinion, this kit is quick and easy to assemble.WEAKNESS:- While I found the adhesive strips on top of the baskets to be an advantage, I wish there had been another way to safely attach the cable routing guides to the top of my wood desk. Unfortunately, I felt the adhesive would damage the wood veneer, so I had to find a lesser use for them. But I didn’t feel this was enough to subtract a star from my overall rating, because I knew this when I chose to order this kit.In conclusion, I was surprisingly impressed with the ease of assembly and simplicity of design. They didn’t over-complicate the issue, instead delivering an effective and cost-efficient system that gets the job done.
