This is a great router if you KNOW you're going to be using it alone - without another router (or node) as part of a Wifi MESH system . If you use it with another ASUS router to take advantage of the AI mesh feature, it has a BIG disadvantage. The third band (AX or WIFI 6) becomes a dedicated transport channel EVEN IF YOU USE THE ETHERNET CABLE AS THE DEDICATED TRANSPORT PATH! You can make this third band (the AX band) visible and therefore access it, but it must have its own SSID, which negates much of the benefit of the SmartConnect feature (which allows you to use 2-3 bands in a WIFI - network to have). Name - or SSID.) If this router is in a mesh setup, it is actually a Wireless AC or Wifi 5 router. After trying this in a mesh setup (with my ASUS RT-AC68U) and finding a bug, I reset a dual-band RT-AX58U/RT-AX3000. When using an Ethernet cable as a backhaul (connection between two routers in a Wifi mesh system), a dual-band router (RT-AX58U or AX3000 is the same router) offers similar performance with one SSID and one AX connection for Wifi6 clients. (devices) about $75 cheaper! The tech support site Dong Knows Tech did a good job of analyzing and documenting what I discussed above - I would suggest reading reviews of both routers before purchasing.
