Wow. Amazing sound. SDB mode sounds great with pretty much anything else I can add. It's much more "dynamic" when SDB is enabled. Bluetooth works fine outside of the room on a MacBook, iPhone, etc. It was surprisingly easy to set up, set up, connect and enjoy. The form factor is just right to hide in a bookshelf. The LCD is great - the blue almost looks like the vacuum fluorescent display I've always loved. Nice that you can dim the display. Amazingly powerful Bowers & Wilkins 683 floorstanding speakers with ease. High sensitivity speakers are an important factor. Using 40W speakers into 8 ohms, the bass is still impressive. I enjoy the sound of the AD18 almost as much as my Rotel 1055, and the convenience of a basic 2-channel stereo is unparalleled - plus the difference in price. The extra power makes for more amazing bass, but the AD18 delivers more than enough. In a quick test, I couldn't tell any difference in playback quality over Bluetooth or USB. I will test more with "correct" FLAC playback in the future. When switching directly from headphones to the iPhone, the sound quality deteriorated significantly compared to the AD18. The same applies to the Bluetooth and USB inputs of the AD18. After moving the headphones from device to device I force the plug into the AD18 to make sure it's seated properly and the problem is solved - great sound. Just make sure the headphone jack is placed correctly, we've all probably experienced that before. I also noticed that the remote control doesn't work well in headphone output mode. In particular, I couldn't turn the AD18 on and off with the remote in headphone output mode - when switching back to SPK, the remote works as usual. I'll keep the rating at 5 stars anyway.
