First experience with compression socks

I have never tried compression socks before. I don't have diabetes or another medical condition, but I thought that with getting older (50) and just having general aches and pains, these might make my legs/feet feel better. I also liked that they were toeless--I have slight bunions, and my toes tend to feel smashed in some shoes and with some socks.I got the large size with heavy compression. These were VERY difficult to get on. I followed the directions about turning the socks inside out, but still, it was quite hard to roll the socks over my heels/ankles, where it was a particularly tight fit. Once in place, however, the socks seemed to be the correct size. The compression makes the socks feel tight, and I was worried that this would bother me all day, but it did not. The material of the socks is rather stiff, not soft like a regular sock.Unfortunately, after wearing the socks all day, I didn't notice any particular benefits or improvement. In fact, one downside was that the skin of my lower legs then felt quite itchy! This seems like a good quality product, but it did not work for me.

Pros
  • Knee-length design targets specific areas of the leg, supporting and compressing as needed
Cons
  • May not be suitable for individuals with sensitive skin
