Works well if you practice using the tips in my usage review. Used it to fix my dog's invisible fence.

Finally got around to writing a review. This thing saved me a few hundred dollars and hours of digging and searching. I used it to find a Marette style swivel connector that was corroding and developing a bad connection that eventually failed on my dog's invisible fence signal wire. and fail miserably. Spent a few hours learning how to work. Sensitivity setting is good. sensitive and sometimes contradictory. I eventually learned how to use it by running an extension cord in my yard, connected to the end of a signal generator, and learned how to trace a cord that I knew 100% of the location of. The best method I could think of was to hold the sensor by the wire and rotate it perpendicular to the wire or line you wish to trace. The sound emitted by the sensor flashes as it goes through the wire. If you learn to walk and swing well, and train yourself to notice pitch and pitch changes with the stretch test, you'll have a lot more time. For an invisible dog fence I had to go around the fence in both directions from the signal source and eventually found a 15 foot section where the signal faded due to the approach from both sides. I ended up having to dig almost 10 feet of signal wire before encountering a bad twisted connection, but that's better than digging 400 feet or paying a few hundred dollars to dog fence installers. All in all, this thing did what it was supposed to do, it just took a bit of experimentation and learning on my part.
