I don't understand why manufacturers would take pennies from a good and well received product to make a quick buck and damage their reputation in the long run. I started buying this in 2018, one for each of my 4 grandchildren for their own life book. These books were and are great. We filled them out and so I've just bought 4 more which are a lot worse than the original although they still look the same to the casual viewer. Plastic cases are significantly thinner and cheaper than the originals and much more prone to tearing. In addition, the pictures in the cover are much looser than the first ones and fall out more easily. The only reason to keep it is because the cover is true to the original version, speaks somewhat to the consistency and because my wife had already filled it before I realized what had happened to the quality. The only problem is the amount of plastic, the manufacturer buys thinner rolls of film from his supplier. I'm sure they saved a bit on the big roll, but the net effect of the book is pretty small, probably a net difference of less than 30 cents per book given what I know about plastic prices. However, people who have never bought one probably don't know what came before and will simply be disappointed with the product when they start using it. Product survival than making a few bucks.
