We have a full grain aniline leather sofa and chair which unfortunately (in hindsight) were not properly cared for and the skins began to wear out, the skins felt rough and dry and had very light surface cracks started in areas with more intense use to appear. The skin was moisturized for years, but not enough. Realizing that worsening the damage is inevitable, we began looking for an air conditioner. After reading some reviews of other products, we weren't comfortable with products that didn't discolor significantly or leave a stubborn residue. After a long search we came across ColourLock and it was absolutely amazing. The skins are now as soft and supple as when new (maybe even better) and the color has "darkened" in areas of more wear, although I would say it's richer and closer to what it was when new was ("restored", most likely). more accurate term) and no color change in other areas. One thing to note: if your skin is dry, you need A LOT of this product. I drank 2 full bottles on 1 sofa, 1 chair and 1 ottoman. It's not bad at all; Just a comment that you will (should) spend as much time and product as necessary to care for your dry skin. Keep applying the product until your skin is no longer willing to take it, let your skin tell you when you're done - I've lost count but I've probably done over a dozen applications on the worst spots. Areas without wear, such as the sides and back, received around 3-4 uses. It's best to let the product dry overnight - not between coats, just when you're done or are done for the time being; You can easily pick up again in the morning. Very little/no sticky residue, no buffing required; Just let it dry for a few hours to a few days and your skin will never feel better. Is it expensive compared to other products? Yes. Will it take up several hours of your time if your skin dries out? Yes. Is it worth the time and money (think how much quality leather goods cost)? ABSOLUTELY. I expect that now that I've seen the difference in how the hides should be compared I'll be much more regular about the grooming regimen and fully expect the time and amount of product consumed to be significantly reduced going forward . This ongoing effort was more of a rescue than planned maintenance. I can't say enough about the change in high wear areas, from rough, hard, bleached/discolored and dry to the touch, to MUCH smoother, softer, richer. and elastic. The effect becomes even stronger after a few days when the product is really absorbed into the skin. I will not use any other thin skin products in the future.
