I don't normally do this, but I'm taking the time to write this review to show how Google wants to take over our lives! First, I'm a Computer Engineer and CCNA CCNP MCP MCSE MCSA A+ NETWORK+ former college professor and holder of many other certifications and awards. This isn't about me, I'm just trying to prove that I'm not a regular user. After a few recent updates that Google released overnight WITHOUT my approval, we found that the speed dropped dramatically. I have a big house and 7 of them are scattered. After troubleshooting all the devices, moving things around, resetting the network and replacing the main unit, I decided to call the support team and report an internet speed issue. I end up with a great FiOS connection, my fiber optic cable is fine and you can get full throughput when connected to a Fios modem/router, as well as running a speed test in the Google Home app (an option , which checks the connection between mesh network and Fios modem). No problem. After spending countless hours with tech support, their only solution was to set up a Fios modem for the bridge so Google could take over my home network from A to Z. Needless to say they would be able to control my internet. events. I have nothing to hide to be honest I don't care what they do but the main question is why?! Why would you force all users who have invested like $1,000 in a mesh network to lower the rate limit to force you to route your internet activity through them? Has been working without problems for 3 years. In my other homes and also in 2 offices I have paired Fios with Deco, Asus and other systems, they all work great. No problems, no speed limits, no BS. I bought a new Deco system to replace this junk product and the difference is insane! No problems, no disruptions, no downtime. Nothing. Some of you may be wondering if my Google Mesh devices are 3 years old and it's time for a change. Well, the first thing I did was buy a brand new set of Google Mesh devices and install them in the same locations. and I encountered the exact same problem. My advice to you is to stay away from Google Wifi and use something else.
