Works great in security locks
Needed a quicker way than PIN to unlock my kids computer; It was really cheap so I decided to give it a try. Windows 10 20H2 didn't recognize it right away, but showed up as an "optional" update in Windows Updates (much like the old reader I was able to reuse on my other kid's computer). Uses an "Elan" chip/driver which is very standard. Was able to enroll fingerprints in Windows Hello right after and definitely couldn't unlock unenrolled fingers (much to my kids' annoyance). I don't know if they're particularly safe in general, but perfect for my use. Fast enough to replace the swipe reader on my other child's system.
