There are many things about these athletic shorts that I like and a few things that keep me from giving them a 5 star rating. First of all, they fit perfectly. I'm 5ft 10" and 190lbs and bought the large size. If I continue to lose weight and reach my goal of 175 pounds, I will go for a medium size. This will make my glutes and quads look good. I like the length too. . I can't stand shorts that catch on my knees when squatting and the inseam length prevents that. I also like the side pockets best. The corner zipper makes it easy to take out the phone. The zipper is secure and easy to use, and I love the subtle logo on the zipper puller. Also, the fabric is great. They're lightweight and stretchy, but not overly drapey. Looks great. The quality of the coverstitch construction is good, with no protruding threads and a good look with minimal waves at the seams or hem. Not so good now with my suggestions for improvement to the manufacturer (I've worked professionally in the apparel industry for over a decade so I like to think I know what I'm talking about). 1) Complaint number one is the doctor. awstring doesn't quite work! The drawstring attached to the side seams will never tighten the waistband as it only stretches the back when pulled. So the tip is functionally useless here. This is my number one complaint; Add a full cable running all the way around and they're about 70% closer to perfect. 2) Woven labels look cheap as hell and scratchy. So much so that I took my seam ripper and removed the stitching holding them. (The left leg uses a zipper label at the bottom of the side seam, while the CB waistband uses a different style, slightly different from the product photo.) Seriously, look what UA, Nike, or Lulu are using; They all came up with good, clean branding hits that look elegant and add value. They look and feel premium, and the unit cost isn't that bad. I would suggest designing one of your own that could be used in clothing to maximize the utility you get from it. 3) I said I like the side pockets "mostly" but I can think of one big improvement: First, reshape the side seam so the pocket opening is wider so men can get their hands in the pocket. It's fine for phones because they're long enough to be grabbed with just a few fingers, but if someone has keys or a subway map in their pocket, they'll be difficult to grab because they're no longer than a few matching fingers. Hole. 4) If any of these suggestions add value and eat up the margins, I would suggest removing the zippered opening in the side pockets and making that pocket an envelope style opening instead. For larger items, if well designed, they are almost as secure as zipped bags. That's all! Like I said, I'll probably buy them again. They're good for the price, but not quite perfect. The above deals can be made with little (if any) impact on margins and will add even more value to the product!
