I try to get interesting advent calendars for my kids each year and I go this one for my son who loves brain teasers. It arrived as is to reduce packaging, with a shipping label stuck to the plastic wrap of the box. It got a little dented on one side, but the contents were fine.The box has a cute Christmas themed picture on a front flap tat lifts up. There is another picture of a hearth on the inside of the flap and festive illustration on each to the perforated flaps for the 24 days of surprises. The numbers for these flaps are randomly sorted; it's not left to right, top to bottom.I slid out the tray that holds all of the brain teasers so I could test them out for the review. I was able to put them all back together, thanks to the included instruction page, and it will be ready to go for my son when December starts. The plastic shapes are made of lightweight pieces that fit together securely when the puzzle is solved. The metal teasers are strong. There's no bending them to cheat. They are all mostly similar in how they come apart, so once I figured out one, it was easy to apply that method to the others.The best thing about his calendar, I think, is that it's a gift that keeps on giving. Rather than chocolate advent calendars I used to buy, these toys will last for ages. They don't take up much room and we can easily keep them in a container on the coffee table for when we want a little mental stimulation. I'm sure my son will enjoy having this calendar of 24 puzzles.
