The UB5 was my first ELAC speaker and I really like it. I've had it for 1.5 years now and added a new center channel (UC52) from the new UniFi 2.0 range a few months ago. What I immediately noticed was that the UniFi 2.0 doesn't have a magnetic grille and that the build quality and overall durability of the speaker is inferior to the UB5. I bought the UF52 hoping it would have the same build quality as my original UB5, but I was very, very disappointed. There are no more magnetic strips. If you like speakers without grilles, you will see holes now.2. The build quality is very, very bad. I have a Polk TSi300 kit which is three times cheaper and the new UF52 suits them3. The grille legs are very cheap plastic and both of my speakers came with broken legs! Not only that, some of them are stuck inside the speaker enclosure itself and are difficult to remove.4. One of the speakers broke off at the corner and you can see what the material looks like5. Sonically, I find them very similar to the UB5, but with a little more bass. I don't understand why ELAC discounted a series that was starting to do very well. This leaves me no choice but to look for another brand as I find the UniFi 2.0's value in terms of build quality matches a speaker that costs three times as much.
