Solid, heavy, acceptable tolerances

Just received this today and was immediately impressed with the weight and strength of both the receiver and shackle. As someone who 1) used to run a machine shop and 2) worked specifically with rigging equipment such as shackles, spans and slings, aircraft wire, etc., I can say that shackle tolerances are acceptable. "It is what it is” applies here; they are rough but small pieces of metal. I ordered this combo set and (3) additional braces. Of all 4 shackles, 3 were "finger sized", 1 required me to work with pliers a couple of times until the paint on the threads was scraped off along with small burrs that seemed harmless; fixes a 5/8" grub screw using just finger strength. Going back to the receiver; it's a heavy, well-made piece of metal. No burrs and good radius on long edges. Final test: It slid into my hitch with plenty of room. Some people may interpret that as "free" but I don't; as long as there is proper power transfer through the clutch and clutch pin the product does the job with the added benefit of not being an insert or remove PITA. I recommend to anyone who needs such a product.
