Well constructed, well cut, thick enough not to break. Bigger than the average outlet. The photo is of light wood and this is an accurate image, but when I installed them their color darkened slightly because they were no longer in the light. I am attaching a photo so you can see what I mean. They're well carved, but since they're wood they'll definitely have some nicks and chips, so I hand sanded them a bit (it's easy to do). They come with tiny brown screws. So if you need screws longer than 0.25 inch, you may have to go to the hardware store. Make sure you look at your outlets and choose the right type. I made the mistake of buying too many when some of my sockets don't have a screw in the middle (they have two - top and bottom). If you decide to paint them, hand sand them first and use a small roller to apply the paint. If you use a brush or squeegee, the color will build up or leave marks. If you are creative and want to make your own light switch, this is a great base to add sound to.
