Best combination of reader and author.

(update via a lady below) It's a really wonderful device and it's actually 2 1/2 devices in one. ONE: It's like a note-taking device - an absolutely wonderful note-taking experience. Although you might want to replace the stylus with a professional stylus that suits your purpose, the included tips are perfect for the screen surface. So this is an absolutely fantastic device for taking notes by hand. SECOND: It is an excellent reader and annotation program for PDF, e-book and many other file types like scientific articles, court cases, magazines and documents. And in conjunction with the suffix "1/2" it also supports many reading applications like Kindle since it is an Android device. 1/2: This is a functional Android device with special screen modes that update faster than the e-ink display normally (with little ghosting), but of course as a monochrome device and e-ink reader. which is updated in its own unique way, there are some limitations. But it works well for reading-focused applications. The only downside is the stylus' slight lag in native Android apps (while its native note-taking and markup apps have no lag at all), but I'm hoping there will be a software patch to fix that. But in general it should be noted that its luminous display is really impressive and has a wide range of color temperatures that you can adjust. It's also surprisingly thin and has a very high build quality. This device is compatible with a variety of styluses, and I recommend the large STAEDTLER Noris digital stylus, which with a standard nib feels like an eraser and "gene pen" (and ironically more like a pencil with the nib that comes with Lumi). Considering all the features of this device, I think it's totally worth the price given its performance advantages over a phone in the same price range (which is actually a better comparison than a touchscreen laptop). In addition, it is also designed as an external monitor for your computer, which is good for word processing and/or reading (!). For pen-related lag issues in Android apps (because native Lumi apps are more responsive than even reMarkable 1), all you have to do is disable (zero) the animation filter in the app-specific settings, which can be accessed via the floating ball quick launch menu. Off for some reason this improves things a lot! Onyx has to write something to temporarily reset it every time it detects the pen is in use.
