Review on 🧹 Bissell Sweep Up 2101-3 Cordless Sweeper: Effortlessly Clean Any Surface by David Schweigert

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I loved it until the handle broke today!

I'm a longtime Bissell Sweeper fan. I got my first one in 1983! This is my second Bissell sweeper. I bought this because we are moving into a house with hardwood floors and I needed something that can be used on carpet. This baby does a great job sweeping up cat hair and dirt from my carpets and surrounding floors. It's easy to use and easy to empty and I think it does a better job on my carpets than my regular cat hair vacuum. It is very easy to empty. You just hold it over the bin and press down on the little cups on the front and back that hold the dirt. I'm always amazed at how much dirt and hair I get out of the sweeper! I still use my vacuum on bedroom carpets due to the higher pile, but thanks to my Bissell sweeper I only need to get my regular heavy vacuum out about once a month. I use Bissell to clean bedroom surfaces between vacuuming. Now for the cons. I was using my sweeper today and the part of the sweeper you screw the handle into just broke off! It's a small threaded piece of metal that appears to have been welded/soldered onto the brush. I used the sweeper as usual and didn't put any extra pressure on it. It would also be great if they changed the design so that the handle snaps into place like a Swiffer instead of bolting it on. The spring-loaded buttons on the Swiffer prevent the grip from falling apart. The Bissell sweeping handle has four (I think) parts that need to be screwed together. When using a Bissell sweeper, I have to stop from time to time to tighten the handle because one of the four parts is loose. I tightened the knob just before it broke today and I'm wondering if the pressure from the constant tightening really loosened the weld/soldering on the breakaway part? I'm trying to fix a broken part with Gorilla Glue but I'm not sure if this will work and I'll have to consider buying another Bissell sweeper. The price is great but if I have to buy a new one every few months it becomes too expensive to use and I could afford the Roomba!

Pros
  • Great fit for me
Cons
  • No instructions
