I used this to repair an Ethan Allen wall clock that some had the mechanism removed from. It worked great. As others have said, the instructions are poor and it's difficult to set the horn correctly, but doable once you understand how it works: once an hour the clock mechanism shorts out the wires leading to the horn to let it know it is exactly one o'clock. . And second, when you put the batteries in, the bell thinks it's 6am. By the way, you need 3 AA batteries, one for the clock and two for the bell. Ringer volume could be a little louder, but it's sufficient and sounds great!
