Betadine has an excellent reputation as a surgical skin cleanser when there is no history of iodine allergies. This product has been marked "For Veterinary Use". ' which bothered me. When I spoke to the manufacturer's representative on the phone, they assured me that the ingredients are the same in both the veterinary drug and the human product. Because it was an effective antibacterial scrub, I felt comfortable using it as a preoperative skin cleanser prior to surgery. The smell of iodine and the price were good.
