I bought this Luker turntable to replace my Victrola which is a few years old; Here are my thoughts as well as a comparison of the two. I think it's great for the price, but I'm a bit disappointed with the sound quality. Don't expect bass boost - this is a cheap speaker compared to the rest of the turntable quality. In comparison, the Victrola's sound quality was slightly better, but it's also slightly more expensive (only around $15). What I'm saying is that I like the color of the player and the gold accents. I like that it loads better than my previous player. Victrola is good, but Luker's color palette is just as good. I think I would still switch to another player just because I don't like the sound quality. It's great for older records like Glenn Miller or The Andrews Sisters, but once you start getting to know younger artists like Diana Ross and The Supremes or Simon and Garfunkel you start to miss the richness that was on those albums. Unfortunately, the quality is very obvious on albums like The Hurting by Tears for Fears or Songs From The Big Chair. A lot also depends on the quality of the vinyl. One benefit is that it adds a nice twist to classical music. I was very happy with the sound. There was a bit of resonance in the high notes, but otherwise it was comfortable. Oddly enough, when I plugged my phone into it and played a random song, it sounded pretty good! I think it's my phone's equalizer. UPDATE: He died. Within a month.
