So I had the Shure SM7B for about a year. I found out this mic came out and I knew it was the BP-40's little brother. This microphone is OUTSTANDING. One thing you need to understand is that the sounds coming off the sides are distorted, as if it's trying its best to block out the sounds, but it can't do it as well as a BP-40 or Shure SM7B. I have a mechanical keyboard on the back of the mic and I've been watching videos too and no one in my discord hears the volume when I blow it up, excellent noise cancellation on the back but not the DIRECT sides. It's a clean sounding mic, it has better mids and highs and lacks some bass, unlike its big brother the BP-40. I'm a mic freak, it's a dynamic mic but it has a clear condenser mic voice which I love about the AT2040 and BP-40, while the Shure SM7B requires attention to the EQ to sound a little better than the AT2040. great out of the box. I am currently using a Wave XLR connected to my AT 2040. I also have to say that it's great for YouTube videos and streaming, and it LOOKS like a streaming mic because it's essential as a webcam streamer too. I would recommend this mic BEFORE the Rode PodMic and any other dynamic mic unless you need it for singing/rapping/music. I recommend the Shure SM7B. If you're on a higher budget get the BP-40, but if you're stuck on a budget UNDER $300 just save the extra $200 and buy this AT2040 and maybe even spend the extra $200 on a WaveXLR out to operate this and a really good arrow.
