These are the only things that kept our 13 year old GSD from slipping. She has always been a restless dog but got worse with age, she can walk on the floor without slipping but she has a tendency to dig her nails creating a roller skating effect that causes her to bounce back and forth everywhere slips . . In the last year her hind legs have really started to give out and sliding on the floor isn't helping. We've tried toe grips, sticky toenails, sticky paw pads, and more textured "shoes" like booties—none of which work well or last. These are the only ones that helped! The pads on both sides of the socks are very helpful as the socks can curl up during the day. I will mention that the button holding the velcro can cause a rubbing problem if you are not careful. Sometimes the button digs a little and causes irritation if we're not careful. The trick for us was to close the velcro slightly and then fold the sock down to create an extra layer between her ankle and the button. If she develops an ulcer (she is ulcer prone and heals very slowly due to some AI issues) we wrap her ankle with a small gauze pad and self-adhesive medical tape before putting the sock on. We have reordered them many times. since she uses them so often and when she goes outside with them, she drags her hind legs and sometimes puts holes in her sock. She wears them every day and we wash them perfectly in the washing machine.
