The adhesive backing is not strong enough to penetrate the background.
This article is worth its money. However, it does come with a peelable tape on the back to keep it in place. The adhesive isn't strong enough to stick to a painted wall. Mine fell so hard and the glue stuck to the fringes and we had to peel off the damaged ones to fix the curtains. In the end we just threw everything away without using it! So disappointing! If you don't remove the adhesive backing, you can use it multiple times.
