I originally planned to use these speakers in my living room as Bluetooth speakers to stream music from my tablet via Spotify. Then I learned from a friend that a wired connection always gives the best sound. Knowing this, I brought them into my bedroom where my computer is and hooked them up to the analog cable. Then I bought a new digital output sound card and started connecting it to a computer with a digital output cable. Let me point out that to my research, this is the only Edifier model that has a digital output, a coaxial output, and an auxiliary output in one model. That's what bribed me for this model. I will tell you quite frankly that I wasn't completely overwhelmed by them at first. The mids were excellent, the highs were very good, but the bass was hardly lacking. I was about to return them and throw them away because the drums sounded like the sound of a cardboard box. The drums had an artificial sound that lacked warmth. So, at the urging of a good friend, I bought a subwoofer and hooked it up to the subwoofer output on the back of the right speaker. It was at that moment that all the cards came together for me and these speakers took off in terms of sound reproduction. If you are looking for a very good budget subwoofer, I recommend the 80W Dayton SUB-800. Today I can't imagine using any system other than these subwoofer speakers on my computer. The cardboard drum sound went away when I got a subwoofer. My experience has given me the best sound these speakers can produce.
