Review on 🌐 Ubiquiti Networks UniFi AC Mesh Wide-Area Outdoor Access Point - UAP-AC-M-PRO US, Dual-Band by Marcus Rash

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Powerful enough to shoot down birds in flight

I installed these in our church to replace a 5 year old single band (dual post style) outdoor unit. It was a fairly quick installation as all the wiring was already in place; All I had to do was attach the bracket to the wall of the building with four screws in plastic anchors and swap the POE injector inside from the old 24v unit for a newer (and more standard compliant) 48v unit. included in this access point. As soon as I connected everything, the light on the front of this device came on, and when I launched the UniFi management software, it immediately recognized and "accepted" this device. Aside from being dual-band (which helps users a lot with bandwidth), this device also seems to be putting out a very strong signal. It is installed on the side of the building facing the courtyard, surrounded by three other buildings, and all of these buildings get an excellent signal from this device. We have three other UniFi APs on campus, including two of the original single-band APs, and they all seem to be working fine and pairing well with each other. We also recently installed CloudKey so I can manage devices remotely. I was surprised at how large this module is, especially compared to the unit it replaced, but I suspect the main reason is the placement of a more robust antenna system inside. Housing. It certainly looks impressive, and church staff, who complained about the need for better WiFi coverage, were no doubt pleased with the size. More importantly, their experience of using Wi-Fi in different church buildings has improved, leaving them satisfied.
