Review on πŸ–₯️ ECHOGEAR In-Wall TV & Soundbar Power Kit: Conceal Cables Behind Your Wall with Low Voltage Cable Management for a Neat Setup (HDMI, Optical, etc.) by Bim Cook

Are you bad at cable management? Push him into the wall!

For years my TV cabinet was stuffed EVERYWHERE with cables. It looked terrible. Now my cords are just as messy, but they're in the wall! Believe it or not, it's better that way. Seriously, this was a great purchase. It was easy to install, I could cut through 1 inch thick plaster with a $30 cordless drill I bought ten years ago. Well, the first hole crept through, the second - the battery did not quite survive. The kit is not to blame. although the corded drill buzzed through. I didn't use the included drywall cutter, instead I drilled a 1/2" hole, stuck a Sawzall blade in and cut the rectangle like that. Much easier! The fishing lines were the worst. Making the bottom exit was normal, let it fell and went. Didn't get up at all. I went to a local store and bought a roll of steel fishing line for $20. This sped up the installation of the top outlet as well as various HDMI cables. I highly recommend it. Another tip: place those Holes next to the bolt. I didn't do this on purpose but it worked well as I was able to run the fishing line onto the bolt which made it easier to grab. Be sure to bring LONG cords. I bought a 10ft cord to connect my tv to the bottom plug of my entertainment stand and a 6ft cable to connect the soundbar to my entertainment stand, neither was nic ht long enough. Remember these cables are very difficult to route, you want to do it once with the best cables you can get so you can forget about it for 10 years. I ended up getting 5m cables (about 16ft) which gave me some slack on either end and reused the 10ft cables to connect to the soundbar. I would happily reinstall this kit or use a similar kit without the soundbar attachment. My dad, who was a helper (and owner of many tools), was extremely impressed with the ease of use and the professional end result. His TV has classic cable routing from the wall and he thought about choosing one of these wall mounted kits after seeing what my house looked like.

Pros
  • Low voltage pass-through conveniently accommodates 4 large HDMI cables. But he has the flexibility to hold more. The locking brackets hold the modules securely in the wall.
Cons
  • Big and chunky
