Ordered 11/2017, top used for over 3 years, albeit with interruptions, boy then 2, now 6 years old. At 2-3 years old, early adult supervision and guidance is a must, but it is a rewarding learning experience. It teaches the child to balance on top by applying constant vertical pressure; good exercise for physical coordination. This is a bit frustrating at first and the child needs encouragement. It also teaches patience and perseverance. Reward: As soon as the spinning top spins at high speed, it continues to spin for a while, and the colors on the periphery of the spinning top mix to form entertaining movement patterns. When the spinning top is moving at high speed it also makes a nice modulated whistling sound which greatly increases interest and really grabs the child's attention. So far the toy has held up to the sometimes rough handling of a young boy; He took a few hits but his balance was not affected and he continues to perform well. When I was visiting, my other granddaughter liked it. If Revane is still selling new ones I would order her one.
